Proper Music is a program for solo guitar and realtime sampling devices (loops, delays). The starting point of the compositions is a musical idiom of a certain style, such as jazz, blues, dodecaphony, noise or folk music. This tonal basis, i.e. jazz-blues folk tunes, twelve-tone rows, noises etc., is not recited or commented on in an eclectic manner, but translated into a new tonal language through deconstruction, augmentation, displacement and distortion. Composed structures form the framework that supports the improvisational freedom. Through the use of real-time sampling devices, multi-layered textures are formed within a simultaneity of contrasting events. A simultaneity of what has already happened and what is being created right now.
“What is heard can no longer be clearly assigned. Perception shifts and gradually detaches itself from the idea that sound production and sound result must be directly connected.” (E. Rauscher, Main-Post)
