Günter Horn (born in Schweinfurt, Germany, in 1964) studied guitar at the Berufsfachschule für Musik, Bad Königshofen, with Johannes Tappert and at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin with Prof. Martin Rennert.
Since 1990 he has been performing classical and contemporary music with the Duo Stringendo (with Lorenz Schmidt, guitar) and the Prisma Ensemble (with Jürgen Wunn, accordion and Lorenz Schmidt, guitar) on a regular basis.
1994 CD release "Klangräume" with the Duo Stringendo.
From the year 2001 on strong commitment to experimental music, improvisation and jazz. Workshop with Evan Parker at the Total Music Meeting in Berlin. Launching of the ensemble beyond. Experiments in free improvisation.
In 2006 guitar solo program „Proper Music“ and CD release.
In 2012 guitar solo program „Spirituals“
2014 - 2016 collaboration with Michael Amman, phonetics, in the duo program Instant Auditives 2.0. CD release INTIMATE VIBRA.
2019 CD release "When The Saints Swing Low" for guitar solo.
2020 CD release "Zwei Stillen" Poetry and music.
Günter wrote a wide variety of music for guitar and electric guitar solo. Another part of his work focuses on pieces for guitar plus various instruments (accordion, piano, percussion, flute, voice, clarinet, violin, double bass).
Compositions including the accordion have been published by Edition Wunn.
His music is being broadcasted frequently within the program Concerto bavarese on the radio station Bayerischer Rundfunk.
